Congenital heart disease is commonly due to infection of a pregnant mother from German Measles for the 1st three months of pregnancy where fetus at that time is developing the body organs. Other causes are from medications or drugs and X-Ray. X-ray emits radiation and the developing fetus is very sensitive to such radiation.
Signs for the new born child:
1. Poor sucking during breastfeeding
2. Difficulty in breathing
3. Bluish discoloration of the skin
4. Fatigue
5. Stunted growth
6. Often have cough and colds
Prevention:
Prevention should start if the patient suspects that she is pregnant. At this period, fetus is developing and and sensitive. Pregnant mother should be healthy, eats healthy food, drinks plenty of fluids and have a an adequate sleep and rest. A mother should avoid contact with a person who have German Measles, avoid drinking of drugs and avoid x-ray if it is not needed.
A pregnant mother should immediately consult to doctors if one of the following prevention is not followed.
Complication of the child after birth:
1. Stunted growth
2. Pneumonia
3. Heart Disease
